This year’s SAROA Apprentice Award went to Lizzie Annells, a relatively recent addition to the riding ranks from the Gordon Richard’s stable. Lizzie recently rode her first winner at Penola but the award is based more on her friendly attitude around the stables. To quote directly from the nomination we received for Lizzie.

The attributes of Lizzie are numerous, however specific to the SA Racing Community she has demonstrated the virtues of companionship, extensive and detailed horsemanship, ultimate respect for her Master and a sense of humour that has seen her small frame, yet massive heart for the horse – transform the stable into an inviting environment for Owners.
