Our Owner of the Month award winner for October is Greg Stewart part owner of Aztec Dancer, Greg supplied the following notes:
We bred Aztec Dancer from our mare Azna who won 5 races for Mick Whittle. Azna was by the mare Miduki, by Snippets, and produced the flying sprinter Periduki, a winner of over $700,000.
I purchased Azna on-line to keep the Miduki blood lines going and sent her to Bel Esprit three times. She has produced three sisters Miss Miduki, Aztec Dancer and a third filly that is still waiting on a name.
Aztec Dancer had a lot of issues with shin soreness before finally getting to the races. She is a tough mare, however, has a great finish and a strong will to win. She will race again in the TAB Sprint final on the 25th of November.
We have been involved in racing for over 30 years, and race our horses in Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin.
Aztec Dancer at the time of writing had raced 5 times for two wins and a second with winnings of $67,300. As Greg tells us, she is by Bel Esprit from the God’s Own mare Azna. She is trained by Gary & Nichole Searle and Brianna Callanan.
Azna, as Greg says, was a five time winner with earnings of almost $78,000, and has also left full sister Miss Miduki a two time winner of $62,000 who is still racing in Alice Springs.
The Granddam Miduki (by Snippets) was lightly raced but as Greg mentions produced the quality sprinter Periduki (by Perugino) who won a listed Matrice Stakes during a long career where he raced 92 times for 25 wins, 9 seconds and 6 thirds.
She also left Mega Miss (by Invincible Spirit) who is the dam of Colliver (by Bel Esprit) winner of over $100,000 and Zeduki (by Magnus) who was also raced by Greg. Others out of Miduki are Gangnam Style (another by Bel Esprit) winner of $117,000, Liberty Island (by Statue of Liberty) who won 5 times for $217,000 and Danuki (by Exceed and Excel) who has earnt almost $280,000.
Aztec Dancer is comparatively lightly raced and we wish every success with her in the future.
